Wreck Ends Finchum's Daytona Outing Early

Daytona Beach, Florida (02/13/21) - Chad Finchum was eager to kick off his 2021 season on Saturday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway. Unfortunately, as often happens at the 2.5-mile oval, he was collected in a multi-car melee that ended his day early.

Finchum enjoyed a successful practice session on Friday evening before rolling off 26th on the grid for the Beef. It's What's for Dinner 300 in his Ted Russell Ford Kingston Pike / Garrison Homes No. 13 MBM Motorsports Ford Mustang. The event marked his 100th-career NASCAR Xfinity Series start.

Finchum was enjoying a solid outing, when he was collected in a 14-car pileup with just 16 laps remaining. He was uninjured, but done for the day. Chad was credited with a 30th-place finish.

"We started 26th and had a really fast Ford Mustang, and was just being patient, trying to avoid the 'big one'," Finchum said. "With about 17 laps to go we were in good position, running with our teammates, and had a plan to go to the front. Unforutnately, we just got caught up in a late-race wreck on the backstretch. It was a disappointing end to the day, but my new crew chief, Mark, did an awesome job giving me a fast race car, and my crew was great all day.

"We really couldn't have asked for anything more on my end than a little more good luck. Bad luck is sometimes just part of the sport. We will hold our heads high and take what we learned from this race and move onto our next race at Homestead in two weeks.'
