Chad Finchum's Iowa Outing Ends Early with Brake Fire

Newton, Iowa (07/28/18) - While the temperatures may have been relatively cool on Saturday at Iowa Speedway, things got extremely hot for Chad Finchum during the U.S. Cellular 250.

The Tennessee racer saw his day come to an early end when a brake caliper broke off and brake fluid started spraying everywhere, which ignited.

"Very disappointing to say the least," Finchum said. "We had the brake issue on the left rear and it ultimately resulted in the car catching fire. Safety crews got there as fast as they could, but the fire quickly did a lot of damage, which ended our day. That's a bummer for sure, but I'm so excited to have this new car that we plan to take to Bristol. This car is really fast and I can't wait."
