Chad Finchum Limps Damaged Car to 18th Place at Charlotte Motor Speedway

The second round of the Summer Shootout Series took place on Tuesday, June 15th, at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC).  After experiencing brake issues in the heat race, Chad Finchum started the Pro Legends feature towards the back and was caught up in an incident, doing significant damage to his #19 Legends Car.  With suspension parts hanging from his car, Finchum drove his car back up to an 18th-place finish.

“We were fast in practice,” said Finchum.  When we went on the track for the heat race, I realized we didn’t have any brakes.  That put us in the B Main and I had to transfer to the feature.  I started the feature way back and it wasn’t a really good start to the night.

“The A-1 Finchum Legends Car was strong, but it was bumper cars going into turn one on the first lap.  We got slammed into the corner with a four-car pile-up in front of us.  I couldn’t get stopped and ended up going straight into it.  It ripped the right front shock right off of it and tore the car up, but we rode around with it like that the rest of the race and still was able to finish 18th out of 28 cars.”

Finchum will be back behind the wheel of his Legends Car on Tuesday, June 22nd, for the third round of the Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC).
