Despite Motor Issues, Finchum Finishes Third in First 2010 Shootout Race
Legends Car Pro division racer Chad Finchum headed to Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC) on Tuesday, June 8th, to take place in the first round of the Summer Shootout Series. After starting second, Finchum raced hard throughout the entire event, despite having mechanical issues, finishing third at the conclusion of the race.
Finchum, the 2008 Bandolero Young Guns Summer Shootout Champ, who finished second in the Shootout’s Legends Young Lions points in 2009, made his first appearance at the track in the ultra-competitive Pro division on Tuesday looking to go to victory lane, but fluids leaking from his power plant got on the tires of his #19 Embassy Suites Legends Car, causing him to slip and slide until he crossed the line in third.
“This was our first time out here in the Pro division,” said Finchum. “It was also the first time in the Coupe. We started second and we were happy with everything. The head cracked on the motor, so we think we got a little bit of oil on the tires. We probably could have had a better finish if it wasn’t for that, but we will come back strong next week and try to obtain a victory.”
