Chad Finchum has Phenomenal Summer Shootout Season
In his first year of Legend Car competition, former Bandolero stand-out Chad Finchum has achieved many things that even the most seasoned racers have yet to accomplish.  On the other hand, Finchum still has many goals he is still working to achieve.

The Tennessee native traveled each week this summer to the Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC) to take part in the ultra-competitive Summer Shootout series, where Finchum found himself second in points at the conclusion of the Young Lions division season.

“This summer was great,” commented Finchum.  “There aren’t words for how I feel about this year. It was my first year in Legends and I finished second in our class.”

Uniquely enough, Finchum achieved his resulting points position with consistency and not by wins.  Finchum was unfortunately never able to grab a victory in the 10-week shootout, but posted several solid finishes which kept him in contention for the championship.

“I really was a little disappointed,” said Finchum.  “I did really want to win one, but I had to remind myself that it was my first year in a Legends Car and I was racing against some of the best racers in the country.”

Although Finchum didn’t bring home any victories and was one mere position away from the championship title, he did win one very special prize.  Finchum was awarded the Spirit of a Legend Award, which is given to one driver a year who best exemplifies the sportsmanship and family-friendly atmosphere at the racetrack that Legend Cars were developed to encourage.

“Wow,” said Finchum.  “I was so surprised and amazed; I am still amazed.  I am just so glad that I got that award.  I am very proud of it and I feel like it’s the best award I have ever gotten.  I’m proud to be the one driver that was chosen.”
