Chad Finchum Wins on NASCAR Pole Night at LMS
Second Year in a Row, Finchum Claims a Trophy in Front of NASCAR Crowd
In May of 2008, Chad Finchum went to victory lane on NASCAR Pole Night in the Bandolero Young Guns division feature at Lowe's Motor Speedway (NC). In 2009, he repeated the feat, this time in the Legends Young Lions division.
In front of the NASCAR fans, Finchum initially didn't appear to have what it took to get to victory lane, but the team discovered before the heat race that the proper tires were not in place on the car.
"Before we went on the track, I was a little discouraged because we had our tires on backwards for practice," said Finchum. "I didn't know how it was going to feel. We changed the tires back around to where they were supposed to be for the heat race and did pretty good."
Starting back in the pack, Finchum worked his way to the front with ease, taking the lead and the victory.
"I don't know where we started, but we were about mid pack," explained Finchum. "We had a really good car. They (the officials) gave us a few laps of practice and those hot laps helped. We worked our way to the front. We had a pretty clean race and got the win. The Embassy Suites car was good today."
Finchum backed up the strong run Thursday with a victory at Newport Speedway (TN) on Saturday, giving him one-two finish during the weekend.
Next up for Finchum and his #19 Embassy Suites of Concord Legends Car is the June 9th race at Lowe's Motor Speedway, the start of the 2009 Summer Shootout Series.
