Chad Finchum Wins First Concord Speedway Legends Car Feature

After Second at Atlanta, Finchum Betters Friday Result on Sunday

Tennessee racer Chad Finchum has very little to no places in his home state to race Legends Cars on a weekly basis.  That forces the young racer to venture out to other states in hopes of taking victories away from the local racers. 

This past weekend, Finchum headed to Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA) to race in the Friday night Young Lions feature as well as the Sunday feature at Concord Speedway (NC).  While he finished second at Atlanta, Finchum drove to victory at Concord, his first Legends Car win at the track.

First up was Atlanta, where Finchum has been to victory lane before.  While he showed strength on the track, at the checkered flag he was second to cross the line.

"It was an awesome race," said Finchum.  "We went to Atlanta and we drew the pole.  We ran really well in the heat race.  We were on new tires so it was a little bit free.  We came in and made a few adjustments on the #19 Embassy Suites Charlotte-Concord Golf Resort & Spa Legends Car and went out there for the race.  Evan Swilling and I started on the front row.  We led about five laps and Evan got by us.  Once he did, we could never get back to his bumper.  It was a hard race and a long race, but it was fun race."

A few days later, Finchum had a torrid battle at Concord against Harrison Rhodes in the Young Lions division feature.  This time though, he put his #19 Legends Car in victory lane, a place he has visited before in the Bandolero Young Guns division.

"I thought that race would never end.  Harrison and I both started on the front row and we battled hard.  He ran me clean every lap and I respect him for that.  That was our first time ever running at Concord with the Legends car so we went out there hoping to just get a top five.  I was battling with Harrison the entire night.  I have to thank Clay Hair, his team and my parents for putting that car together for Atlanta and Concord."

Next up for Finchum will be the Spring Fling feature at Lowe's Motor Speedway (NC) on Monday, April 13th.
