Finchum Returns To Legends Car Competition; Finishes Third
Strong Run For Tennessee Racer in North Carolina on Monday
It has been a month since Tennessee racer Chad Finchum has strapped into his #19 Embassy Suites Charlotte-Concord Golf Resort & Spa Legends Car for some hardcore racing action. With the winter months and weather postponing multiple events, his Legends Car stayed parked for multiple weeks, but the sun was shining Monday at Lowe's Motor Speedway (NC), where Finchum battled hard for the top spot in the Young Lions division feature of the Spring Fling Series, eventually finishing third.
"We have been out of the car since Orlando," said Finchum. "We have been meaning to come and race, but things have come up or the weather has kept us home. Today we came out and practiced. The car was way too loose. We changed everything and went back out there in the feature.
"About the first five or 10 laps, we had a winning car, but it kept falling off every lap. We were just hoping and praying to stay in the top three when the checkered flag flew."
Finchum and his #19 Legends team will be heading to Kentucky Speedway (KY) next for a double-header event on Saturday and Sunday, March 28th and 29th. Just like at Lowe's this past weekend, Finchum will be carrying a new sponsor with him as he circulates around the track.
"I have a bunch of great sponsors that support my efforts, and a new one that has come on board is the Brickyard Bar-b-Que in Powell, Tennessee. In fact, before we left Tennessee to race in North Carolina, we stopped in for some great food. I appreciate them and all of my sponsors supporting my efforts in 2009."
